This is the Family behind Brooklea Farms Homestead
We are Brooklea Farms Homestead, Stacy, Stephen & Dillon. We have a 6 acre farm in Bath New York, We offer Dog training, Behavior modification, as well as so much more. Stacy is a Certified Canine Behavior Consultant, see her details below!
Stephen and Stacy also run a snowplowing company (since 2021) together, Stephen had a snowplowing business for many years prior. So our story is this…. Stacy bought an F250 in 2020 with a plow and decided she was going to help the (then) local snow plow businesses out (in Hilton NY), so (we) Stacy and Steve started working together during a nasty snow storm in February 2021… The rest is history. The two of us found out we both went to Irondequoit school district and had so much in common, including our favorite band (RUSH), so funny, and Steve actually knew me (Stacy) in the 90’s when I worked at Wheels Automotive, (never asked me out then, he was shy lol). Steve is an excellent mechanic, and carpenter he can repair anything and build anything. He has been an Auto mechanic since he was a teenager. Some day we hope to be able to get a shop running here for him to continue to pursue his passion. In the mean time we are farming… well Stacy & Dillon are farming, Steve is repairing everything lol.
Stacy started training dogs in 2002 when she attended Animal Behavior College, after graduation from ABC she began working not just in group dog training sessions but in private in home sessions with rescue dogs and dogs from poor home environments. In this she assisted many families in rehoming dangerous dogs and training dogs that had been given up on by their owners and other caretakers.
In 2003 Stacy attended the Association of Pet Dog Trainers 5 day conference in Orlando Florida, catching every continuing education unit she could for the entirety of the conference. In 2006 Stacy began her Bachelors degree in Psychology with a focus on conditioning and learning. With the pressure of working with dogs with severe aggression and behavioral disorders Stacy began studying more about how the canine brain functions, not just conditioning and learning but biological and neurological processes that cause behavior disorders. In 2007 Stacy enrolled in Companion Animal Science Institute's 4 year Diploma program in Canine Behavior, Science and Technology (Dip. CBST) to compliment her Bachelors degree focus in the field of canine behavior.
In 2012 Stacy successfully passed the Certification Council for Pet Dog Trainers (CCPDT) most prestigious exam, the CBCC-KA, Certified Behavior Consultant Canine - Knowledge Assessed exam. As well as graduating with her Masters in Science in Psychology the very same year. The CCPDT requires the certificate holder renew their certification every 5 years, renewal requires continuing education credits be achieved throughout the 5 year period between renewal, Stacy has successfully completed all continuing education credits in all renewal periods and has a current Certificate certifying her as a Canine Behavior Consultant. Stacy is also a published author of The Goldendoodle (2009) and has written several excerpts for books for the APDT, Stacy has also been chosen multiple times to participate in CBCC-KA exam question editing through PTC for the CCPDT's exam for behavior consultants. Stacy collaborated with RIT students to create a training app: sniffy-app.com to help owners train their dogs. In 2017 & 2018 Stacy assisted a geneticist PhD student at Cornell University New York with a genetics study on Goldendoodles, specifically the F1 generation to determine how males and females differ genetically to determine the likelihood of genetic diseases. Stacy has owned many dogs, she currently owns Brooklea Farm with her husband Steve, they breed Golden Retrievers and Goldendoodles, have rescue cats and egg laying chickens. Stacy and Steve have several active Female Golden Retrievers, 4 retired Golden girls, a retired Doodle and 2 male Stud dogs, as well as 5 rescued cats and lots of egg laying chickens. In the future Stacy plans on adding other farm animals to her family.
